  RULES AND RULES REGULATIONS FOR THE PARTICIPANTS  
 
  1. The persons who are going to participate in the competition should notify to the secretary of the farm test committee by an application form which is attached hitherto. Notification must be done at least one day before the beginning of the Farm Fest; otherwise the exhibits will be rejected for want of space. Hence a special attention must be drawn to this rule.
  2. For each competition registration fee is Rs.2.00.
  3. For each exhibit, a card will be issued, in which the exhibitor should properly fill the SI. Number class, section of the exhibit and it should be affixed to exhibit. This should be done at the time of displaying the exhibit.
  1. For class III, IV, V & VI the participants should bring and arrange their exhibits before 12.00 noon on the day of beginning if the Farm Fest. The exhibits displayed after 12.00 noon will be rejected from competition.

          For class I & II the participants would prepare their exhibits in the showground           itself. The time allotted for them is as follows.

The exhibits that are prepared outside the showground are strictly rejected from competition.

  1. The exhibits that are grown by the competitors (or) under the direct supervision of the competitors must be displayed.
  2. The pots of the plants displayed for the competition must be clean. The name of the exhibitor should not be displayed in the pot. The pots should not be painted in such a way to indicate the ownership.
  3. The plants and other exhibits displayed for competition should be properly labeled. The label should contain the common name of the plant and its variety name (as far as possible).
  4. The competitors should strictly follow the number of varieties/types/vases that are to be displayed as per the schedule. If it has not been followed, the exhibits will not be displayed in more than one section.
  5. For cut flower arrangement, the exhibitors should bring their own flower vases and the department of Agriculture will not take any responsibilities regarding the loss or damage to the containers / vases. The vases should not contain any mark so as to indicate the name of the exhibitors.
  6. Immediately after the display, cut flowers, fruits and vegetables will becomes the properly of the Department of Agriculture.
  7. The mails of the exhibitors may remain in the farm fest ground to protect the exhibits, except during the hours of judging.
  8. If there is any doubt regarding the competition, before displaying the exhibits it should be clarified with the secretary of Farm Fest Committee.
  9. The exhibits which are displayed under the class I (Vases alone), class III & IV alone can be taken back by the owners on the next day of close of Farm Fest after getting necessary permission from the Department of Agriculture.
  10. The exhibits which are kept under class IV and V are should be displayed in paper plates or plates or plates made out of fresh and dried Banana leaves and Arecanut  spaths. Plastic and metals plates should not be used under any circumstances.
  11. An exhibitor may more than one exhibit in any section but they cannot be awarded more than one prize in that section.
  12. Generally in each section, there will be three prizes, viz., first, second and third. Under special circumstances special prizes may be given instead of I,II & III prizes, consolation prizes may also be given at the discretion of judges.
  13. If there are no sufficient competitors, the judgment committee has the right to reduce the number of prizes under that section / subsection.
  14. If the exhibits are not up to the standard, then the judging committee has the power to cancel all the prizes under that section / subsection.
  15. Immediately after the declaration of  prizes, advertisement over the exhibit material in any form is strictly prohibited; if anybody doesn’t follow this rules then the candidature  of the exhibitors to receive the prize will be cancelled.
  16. If there is any objection regarding the regretful qualification of any exhibit then it can be referred to the judging committee through the secretary, and in case of any dispute, the chairman of the farm fest committee is the appellate authority to take final decision.
  17. One assistant will be allowed with each competitor.
  18. The prize winners are requested to receive their prizes on the closing ceremony of the farm fest, failing which the department of agriculture has the right to forfeit the awarded prizes.

COMPETITIONS

CLASS – II
CUT FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

The participants should bring their own flowers, leaves and other accessories necessary for floral arrangement. Artificial stacking is not allowed. The exhibits should be prepared within the showground.

SECTION – 1: ROSE ARRANGEMENT

An exhibitor should display minimum two bowls / vases decorated atleast with two varieties of roses.(only rose should be used).

SECTION – 2: OTHER CUT FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

 An exhibitor should display minimum two bowls / vases decorated at least with two types of cut flowers, other than roses.

SECTION – 3: ROSE ARRANGEMENT

The bouquet has to be prepared in the show ground.

CLASS - II

FLOWERS, GRAIN, VEGETABLE AND FRIUT DECORATION

The topic allotted for grain and flower decoration is global warming

SECTION – 1: Flower Decoration.
SECTION – 2: Grain Decoration.
SECTION – 3: Fruit / Vegetable Carving.
SECTION - 4: Rangoli with flowers and fruits.

For Section – 4 alone special substances like sand, sawdust, salt, etc., can be used to enhance the appearance of the decoration).

                                                CLASS –III
The exhibitors who are participating in section 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 should display the plants in bloom. Each pot should contain only one variety or single plant species.

SECTION – 1: ROSES

In this section a minimum of three varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 2: CHRYSANTHEMUM

In this section a minimum of three varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 3: BOGAINVILA

For this section a minimum of three varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 4: HIBISCUS

For this section a minimum of five varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 5: CROSSANDRA

For this section a minimum of three varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 6: ANNUAL FLOWERING PLANTS

(Marigold, Zinnia, Cosmos, Cocks comb, Balsam, Begonia, Petunia, Pansy, Aglonema, etc.)
For this section a minimum of five types of annuals should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 7: CACTI AND SUCCULANTS

In this section a minimum of five varieties / species of plants should be displayed.
For each variety / species at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 7: CACTI AND SUCCULANTS

In this section a minimum of three varieties should be displayed. For each variety at least one pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 8: BONSAI

The best collection of plants should be displayed.

SECTION – 9: ORCHIDS

Plants with flower spike should be displayed A minimum of 3 pot should be displayed.

SECTION – 10: FOLIAGE PLANTS

Each pot should contain only one species / variety of plant.

Subsection – a: Crotens

For this section a minimum of five varieties should be displayed. and for each species atleast one pot should be displayed.

Subsection – b: Forms and Palms

In this section a minimum of four species should be displayed and for each species at least one pot should be displayed.

Subsection –C: Other Foliage Plants
(Indoor plants like Dracaena, Coleus, Diffenbachia, etc.,)
For this section a minimum of five varieties should be displayed.
and for each species at least one pot should be displayed.

CLASS IV

VEGETABLES

     The vegetables that are going to be exhibited should be fresh. It should be free from pest and diseases. Due importance should be given on size, shape, colour, cleanliness and freshness of the vegetables.

SECTION – 1: GOURDS

a) Ash gourd
b) Pumpkin
c) Bottle gourd
One exhibit is sufficient for each category
a) Snake gourd
b) Bitter gourd
c) Ribbed gourd
A minimum of two exhibits should be present in each category
The snake gourd that are displayed should be straight

One exhibit is sufficient for each category

                A Minimum of two exhibits should be present in each category
The Snake gourd that are displayed should be straight  Bottle gourd

SECTION – 2: BRINJAL

  1. Minimum two Varieties
  2. In each variety atlas five vegetables should be kept

SECTION – 3: TOMATOES

  1. Minimum two varieties
  2. In each variety at least five vegetables should be kept

SECTION – 4: LEAFY VEGETABLES

  1. Minimum three species of leafy vegetables
  2. In each species a minimum of ten number of leaves, leaf stalk should be kept
  3. Presentation in poly bags is preferred

SECTION – 5: BHENDI

  1. Maximum number of varieties can be kept
  2. In each variety a minimum of eight vegetables should be kept

 

CLASS – V
FRIUTS

The fruits that are going to be displayed should be fresh, free from pest and disease. Due importance should be given to size, shape, colour, cleanliness and rigidness of the fruits.

SECTION – 1: BANANA

  1. Minimum one bunch
  2. Maximum varieties can be displayed

SECTION – 2: COCONUT

  1. Minimum one bunch
  2. Maximum varieties can be displayed

 

SECTION – 3: FRIUT COLLECTION

  1. Except Banana any other fruits can be collected
  2. At least there should be six types of fruits
  3. In each type at least two fruits should be kept

 

CLASS VI
MEDICINAL & AROMATIC PLATS

At least six species of potted plats belonging to aromatic and medicinal plats category can be displayed. A card indication the name of the plant and its medicinal value (in one or two sentence) should be affixed to the exhibit. For each species at least one pot should be displayed and each pot should contain only one species.

CLASS VII
ORNAMENTAL GARDEN

Section – 1: Home garden
Section – 2: Industrial garden
Section – 3: Institution garden

Section – 4: Roof garden
Section – 5: School garden
Layout of the garden should be proper. Improved techniques should be adopted. Many plant species should be there. Garden should be properly managed. Free from pest, disease and weeds

CLASS VIII
KITCHEN GARDEN

  1. Minimum of six types of vegetables should be cultivated
  2. Proper spacing should be followed
  3. Improved techniques should be adopted
  4. Garden Should be properly managed


CLASS IX

COCONUT PLANTATION

  1. Trees should be maintained at proper spacing
  2. improved techniques should be adopted
  3. Plantation should be properly managed

 

CLASS X
ORCHARD

  1. Orchard should contain only one species of fruit trees
  2. Minimum land requirement is ½ acre
  3. Proper spacing should be adopted
  4. Improved techniques should be adopted
  5. Orchard should be properly managed

 

CALSS XI
FLORICULTURE

  1. Garden should contain only one species of flower plants
  2. Minimum land requirement ¼ acre
  3. Improved techniques should be followed
  4. Garden should be properly managed

 

CLASS XII
